Christine Fahnestock, MSOB

 

Chris Fahnestock has a track record of experience and innovation in executive succession planning, coaching, executive development, high potential identification, and sophisticated management assessment and selection systems—including developmental interventions and programs to close talent gaps in groups and individual leaders. She has managed the succession planning activities for several Fortune 500 CEO’s, including CEO transitions.  All work is grounded in clients’ strategic issues, objectives and culture to track more closely with business strategy. 

 

In addition, Chris identifies on-the-job developmental interventions to improve leadership competencies, including on-the-job experiments and practice, accelerated transition and assimilation of new executives, developmental assignments, and our exclusive Live Executive 360©.  Examples of ways she works with executive clients are:

 

§  Designs, reviews and updates succession planning processes

§  Creates overall organizational systems for selecting, developing and retaining talent

§  Assesses and develops senior executives and high potential candidates

§  Coaches executives to create action plans for career growth

Chris has facilitated successful talent identification, succession, development and selection processes in a wide variety of settings. 

 

Selected examples include:

 

§  Re-designed talent review process and trained leaders to implement process, for one of Fortune’s listed top ten fastest growing companies (via merger & acquisition).  Designed Board-Initiated CEO and executive assessment for selection and development of senior leaders in the merged and acquired companies.  Managed a team of coaches for development of selected leaders, based on assessment.

§  Developed and implemented succession plan for sudden replacement of 40% of Senior Team due to sensitive regulatory issues

§  Revised global telecommunication company’s long-standing talent review and succession planning processes

§  Managed, for a global fortune 50 company, a team of 14 executive assessors, almost all of whom have international experience.  Assessed senior executives using a full range of testing, interviews, personality measures, and simulation methods.  This included management of a team in Asia, assessing Country Managers from a number of countries

§  Designed and led project to assess high potential top sales executives for leadership roles in a global biotechnology company

§  Designed, for the Senior Management Team and the new President of a mid-sized aerospace client, a complete talent management system. (Included: nomination process for high potential talent, structured talent discussions, leadership assessment, development planning and tracking, mentoring, selection and executive training)

§  Coached senior executives in a national manufacturing company to provide sensitive, corrective feedback and coaching to their key back-up candidates.

§  Customized development plans for top sales managers in global pharmaceutical firm

§  Consulted in industries impacted by tumultuous, changing market and regulatory environments

 

Chris has presented at national and international conferences.  She served as assessment and feedback staff for ten years for The Center for Creative Leadership.  She has presented at conferences and led workshops focused on succession planning, selection and development of leaders for the International Assessment Center Conference, the Society for Human Resources Management, Linkage Inc. conferences, and various industry meetings.

 

Chris’ consulting experience is in pharmaceuticals, insurance/finance, aerospace and defense, telecommunications, utilities, and manufacturing.  She has written several articles for industry publications on succession planning and talent assessment.
